Fish Lane wanted to encourage greater foot traffic and engagement with the precinct by highlighting it as a place to pause, explore and connect within the city. The challenge was to communicate this sense of sanctuary while reflecting the relationship between Fish Lane’s urban environment, community and native Australian landscape.

The mural celebrates the relationship between Fish Lane’s vibrant community and the surrounding Australian landscape. Winding vines and native plants weave through figures representing people from all walks of life, reflecting the movement, creativity and connection of the precinct.

The contrast between organic forms and urban architecture creates a visual sanctuary within the city, a place where residents, workers, students and visitors can pause, connect and find a moment of calm.
